Faculty of Literature and Humanities
Faculty of literature and humanities is offering educational services at a vast level. It has 5 educational groups and offers 6 bachelor, 12 master's and 8 PhD programs.
History:
The Faculty of Literature and Humanities is one of the oldest and most prolific faculties of Shiraz University.
1954: Establishing one faculty under the title of "Faculty of Literature and Science" with only one department known as the department of Persian and English Literature and Language
1962: Establishing wo other departments known as "Persian Language and Literature" and "English Language and Literature"
1962: Establishing the department of Economics and Business Management
1963: Establishing History Department
1973: Establishing Sociology Department
1974: Initiating of Demography discipline (
1974: Establishing the department of "Library and Information Science" by starting the first approved degree program at the master's level
1978: Splitting the "Literature and Science" department into two independent faculties called "Faculty of Literature and Humanities" and "Faculty of Science"
1978: Altering the department of "Economics" and "Business Management" into departments of "Economics" and "Management and Accounting"
1978: Establishing the department of Islamic Education
1986: Including Mirza Shirazi Library to this faculty
2003: dividing the faculty of "Literature and science" into "Literature and Humanities" and "Social Sciences"
2013: Renaming the faculty of "Islamic Theology and Education" into "Faculty of Theology and Islamic Education"
2014: Establishing Department of Geography
2017: including Geography Department in the Faculty of Social Sciences
Currently, this Facility is comprised of departments of "History", "Arabic Language and Literature", "Persian Language and Literature" and "Foreign Languages and Linguistics".
